So I finished Uncharted 2 for the second time in as many days (damn that thing is short) and once I noticed who the director/writer of the thing was, I realized why it's so good. Amy Hennig. Amy Hennig is responsible for one of my favorite game series, the legacy of kain series. The legacy of kain series had unpolished but good gameplay punched up by fantastic writing and memorable characters. The Uncharted series has unpolished but good gameplay punched up by fantastic writing and memorable characters.

This is a perfect example of why it's always important to follow the talent. Companies like Naughty Dog, Eidos, Pixar, and so on want you to believe that its the institution that makes the product. It isn't. It's the talent, and as long as you pay attention to where that talent goes, chances are you'll find good products.

Now, I thought Amy had left the games industry when LoK: Defiance was released, which is why I was surprised to see her name on the Uncharted credits. All I have to say is... I'm so glad she's working again. Much like LoK these Uncharted games are games to own purely for dialogue and character. The last few lines of Uncharted 2 made the game worth playing for me. Because seriously... fuck clowns. (lol)
